Last Stop Diner

Nelson Fantailfeather Some fun tunes here, kicking off with the the rockin' uptempo paean to desire of "Burnin' Up". Then there's the cheerily-be-chorused nod to ecocide that is "Desmond", followed by the scary-but-you-aren't-sure-why weirdness of "Trinny And Susannah". The EP concludes with "GBA", a tale of two misfits that evokes a couple of Springsteen's protaganists, running but they don't know to where, set against an almost new-wave backdrop of choppy guitars. A fun EP with inventive and excellent lyrics. Favorite track: Trinny & Susanna.

Burning Up 03:13
Burning Up Maybe I should tell you, but there’s too much to know Maybe I should tell you, I cannot let it show Maybe I should tell you, I cannot yield that power Maybe I should tell you, I need a colder shower Maybe I should tell you, my legs are shaking Maybe I should tell you, my hands are quaking Maybe I should tell you, it makes no sense Maybe I should tell you, I ain’t got no defence. Oh uh uh oh Oh - you move me so. Maybe I should tell you, just what I’m thinking Maybe I should tell you, there’s my stomach sinking Maybe I should tell you, how I’m feeling Maybe I should tell you, you set my heart a reeling Maybe I should tell you, my blood’s a pumping Maybe I should tell you, my head’s a thumping Maybe I should tell you, I didn’t plan it. Maybe I should tell you, I can’t stand it. Oh uh uh oh Oh you move me so. Like an insect bite, it gets worse at night And I’m burning up. Like an insect bite, it gets worse at night And I’m burning up. Oh uh uh oh Oh you move me so. Like an insect bite, it gets worse at night And I’m burning up. Like an insect bite, it gets worse at night And I’m burning up. Maybe I should tell you, just what I’m thinking Maybe I should tell you, there’s my stomach sinking Maybe I should tell you, how I’m feeling Maybe I should tell you, you set my heart a reeling Maybe I should tell you, my blood’s a pumping Maybe I should tell you, my head’s a thumping Maybe I should tell you, it makes no sense Maybe I should tell you, I ain’t got no defence. Oh uh uh oh Oh you move me so Oh uh uh oh Oh you move me so. Words FJThom

Desmond 03:51
Desmond I was sitting on my couch in my usual slouch just watching some mindless TV When the weatherman said a storm was brewing and it’s in my vicinity. The trees were waving outside my windows which were whistling a heavy metal tune. The storm was coming and I’d better do something, and I’d better do that something soon. So I piled my stuff onto my bed All the books I’d never read And made my way on to the front door. But the roof was shaking and the riverbanks breaking, it was worse than ever before. The street was a lake, for goodness’ sake, and the whistling wind began to roar. Desmond! What have you done? Coming round here and messing with my fun. Desmond! How could you? Take all my possessions with you. Well the water came inside like a rising tide; there was nothing I could do. I took photos for my friends to see, just to prove to the world it was true. I thought this house was kind of cheap, but they didn’t fully explain The kind of carelessness and lies and that let you build on a flood plain. Desmond! I was so blind. I wonder if there is any hope for mankind? Desmond! How could I not see? What happens elsewhere affects me. Now all I can do is stand in the water All I can do is stand in the water Nothing I can do but stand in the water watch it rise, watch it rise, Watch it rise in front of my eyes. Desmond, Desmond, Desmond – whathaveyoudone? Desmond! I was so blind. I wonder if there is any hope for mankind? Desmond when you came through You took all my prized possessions with you. Desmond, Desmond, Desmond – what have you done? Words FJThom

Trinny and Susanna Trinny and Susanna, wearing their top gear Looking like they wanna get right outta here Outta here, here, here, outta here Always were such good girls, doing as they’re told Their heading down the highway, fearless and bold Let’s go, go, go outta here They’re just livin’ the dream And you, you wanna live the dream Cowboys tried to con them, pirates made them fight But they stuck close together, drinking in the night. Night, night, night, nobody owns the night. So far to travel, dreams in their eyes Lies to unravel; so many ties. Trinny plays guitar, in Susanna’s cabaret They own their own bar, folks listen when they say They say, say, say; listen- now (They say) We’re just livin’ the dream And you, you can live the dream If you feel it in your gut, got something to prove If your life’s stuck in a rut; you got to find the groove Groove; grove, groove and mama you gotta move. G.B.A. 04:02
G.B.A. He was a good guy down on his luck She was a bored girl who wanted to fuck around for a while. He left his sad wife and headed out west Keen as a knife life she thought it was best to try raise some hell And all the while the tv’s on The lights are bright but the dark’s not gone Stoked with fear and anger and pain Crushing your kindness, driving you insane He was a smart guy but didn’t fit in She was a bright kid sick of the spin and shine of the world. He didn’t know where he was going to She didn’t show it but she hadn’t a clue but she had a plan. And all the while the lines engage The idle chatter of the internet sage Stoked with fear and anger and pain Picking at scabs again and again and again. Ah you brought it all on yourself. You brought it on yourself You brought it on yourself You brought it on yourself You brought it on yourself. This time He took a gun to America’s head She pulled the trigger and shot them all dead Ah but with style. He only wanted some civilisation She was witness to the death of a nation Grown infantile. And all the while the tv’s on The lights are bright but the dark’s not gone Stoked with fear and anger and pain Crushing your kindness, driving you insane Words F.J. Thom

about

Ms Fi & the Lost HeadBand Edinburgh, UK

If Talking Heads went out with Blondie to a Cabaret joint in the Appalacian mountains and the resulting show was painted by Braque you might capture the sound of Ms Fi & The Lost HeadBand.

We can be been found playing to the disgruntled punters of Edinburgh surprising them with tales of wit and woes getting them thinking and tapping their toes.
